Speed

Service providers advertise DSL speed in terms of  bandwidth ratings. Bandwidth numbers advertised for residential DSL service range from 128 Kbps to 3 Mbps (3000 Kbps).

Because these DSL speed ratings vary so widely, its best to check first with your service provider to determine the bandwidth levels associated with your subscription. Many providers offer a choice of DSL services with different bandwidth ratings.

DSL Speed of Downloading and UploadingYour DSL speed can change depending on how you use the network.

DSL providers often advertise speed of their service using a combination of two bandwidth numbers; for example, "1.5 Mbps / 128 Kbps:"
The first number, 1.5 Mbps in this case, refers to the maximum bandwidth available for downloads. Examples of network download activities include browsing Web sites, receiving files from P2P networks, and receiving emails.

The second number, 128 Kbps in this case, corresponds to the bandwidth available for uploads. Example of network upload activities include publishing to Web sites, sending files over a P2P network, and sending emails.
Residential DSL services often provide higher bandwidth for downloads than for uploads, as most customers spend more time in network downloading activities. These are sometimes called asymmetric DSL (ADSL) services. In ADSL, the first bandwidth number will be much higher than the second as in the example above. With symmetric DSL (SDSL), both numbers will be the same. Many business-class DSL services utilize SDSL, as business customers often spend significant time uploading over their networks.

Coverage

Due to the specific way that telephone lines must be installed to run a DSL Internet network, this type of service is not available in all areas. You must check to make sure a company is providing DSL Internet service to your area before signing up. Use a handy Internet tool to check for DSL coverage in your neighborhood

When checking DSL availability first you want to eliminate broadband providers that do not actually offer high speed Internet service in your state, city, or town. You can accomplish this by checking DSL and broadband provider availability in your zip code. Taking this step first will save you time and effort. Or, if you know which company provides your dial tone and you want to order Internet service from your telephone provider you can start a high speed Internet availability search by clicking on any link or provider logo you see that represents your current phone provider. You can also check the price of DSL or broadband service providers, such as Verizon DSL, Qwest DSL or AT&T DSLby simply clicking on any Verizon DSL or AT&T DSL availability link and entering your telephone number or address where applicable.

The Different Client Messenger Services

The  Three Client Messenger Services

 MSN

Windows Live Messenger (formerly named MSN Messenger) is an instant messaging client created by Microsoft that is currently designed to work with Windows XP (up to Wave 3), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, Windows CE, Xbox 360, Blackberry OS, iOS, Java ME, S60 on Symbian OS 9.x, and Zune HD. The client has been part of Microsoft's Windows Live set of online services since 2005. It connects to Microsoft's .NET Messenger Service. The client was first released as MSN Messenger on July 22, 1999, and as Windows Live Messenger on December 13, 2005.In June 2009, Microsoft reported the service attracted over 330 million active users each month.

Customer Features and Services

Windows Live Messenger's album viewer is based on Windows Live Photo Gallery and provides users a photo viewing experience for photo albums shared via Windows Live Skydrive and Facebook. The album viewer is interactive and supports full screen and slideshow modes, as well as viewing and uploading comments on Facebook and Windows Live SkyDrive albums. It also supports people tagging for Windows Live SkyDrive. The album viewer closely resembles the Microsoft Silverlight counterpart for web photo albums present on Windows Live Photos.

Windows Live Messenger allow users to appear offline to particular individual contacts, as well as to an entire category within Windows Live Messenger, while appearing online to other contacts. This is a recent feature of Windows Live Messenger 2011, and is a departure from the previous versions of Windows Live Messenger, where blocking a contact would prevent the "blockee" from sending the user any messages to the "blocker". With the "appear offline to" configuration currently implemented, "hidden from" users can still send "offline messages" to the target.

User can connect services such as facebook , and Myspace using Windows Live Profile,, and display their contact's Messenger social updates within the "Full view" of Windows Live Messenger. Users can also post status updates and photos directly to the connected services within Windows Live Messenger. Additionally, Messenger also imports all contacts from the connected services and integrates with Facebook Chat (via the XMPP protocol) for instant messaging support with users on Facebook.

Yahoo! Messenger

Yahoo! Messenger (sometimes abbreviated YIM ) is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client and associated protocol provided by Yahoo!. Yahoo! Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo! ID" which also allows access to other Yahoo! services, such as Yahoo! Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email. Yahoo! also offers PC-PC, PC-Phone and Phone-to-PC service, file transfers, webcam hosting, text messaging service, and chat rooms in various categories.

Just sign into Yahoo! Mail to enjoy the same Yahoo! Messenger for the Web service you know and love. Yahoo! Messenger within Yahoo! Mail also allows you to chat with your Facebook and Windows Live friends without requiring any installation.

System requirements: Internet Explorer 8 or later, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.

For the latest and complete Yahoo! Messenger IM experience, download the PC desktop client.

Other versions: Windows, Mac, Mobile, iPhone

Yahoo!'s instant messaging (IM) service, which includes text messaging, voice calling and file sharing. The IM client includes Internet radio and the regular phone calling at rates as low as one cent per minute. Starting with Version 8.1, Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger users can instant message with each other. See instant messaging and voice chat.

Skype

Skype is a proprietary voice-over-Internet Protocol service and software application originally created by Niklas Zennström, and owned by Microsoft since 2011.

The service allows users to communicate with peers by voice, video, and instant messaging over the Internet. Phone calls may be placed to recipients on the traditional telephone networks. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free of charge, while calls to landline telephones and mobile phones are charged via a debit-based user account system. Skype has also become popular for its additional features, including file transfer, and videoconferencing. Competitors include SIP and H.323-based services, such as Empathy, Linphone , Ekiga as well as the Google Talk service.

Skype provides support through their web support portal, support community, skypesupport on Twitter, and Skype Facebook page. Direct contact via email and live chat is available through their web support portal. Chat Support is a premium feature available to Skype Premium and some other paid users.

In January 2010 Skype rescinded their policy of seizing funds in Skype accounts that have been inactive (no paid call) for 180 days. This was in settlement to a class action lawsuit. A settlement of up to US$4 was paid to persons who opted in to the action.

Skype's refund policy states that they will provide refunds in full if a client has used less than 1 euro of their Skype Credit. "Upon a duly submitted request, Skype will refund you on a pro rata basis for the unused period of a Product".

Here's the simplest way to save money on your phone bill: Use Skype. It lets you make Internet-based VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) phone calls for free to anyone in the world who also uses Skype on their PC, and make inexpensive calls from your PC to landlines and cell phones worldwide. It's also an instant messenger as well.

If you've heard of Skype, but worried that it's hard to set up, worry not. It's exceptionally simple to use. It will automatically recognize your headset, microphone, and speakers, so you don't need to worry about configuration. To call another Skype user, enter a user name, and you're ready to go. You can also save a list of users, so calling them back is simple. To call landlines and cell phones, you'll need to set up an account and buy credit. Then, whenever you make a call, that credit is used.

Skype does more than phone calls. It also lets you video chat and text chat as well, and send SMS messages. This newest version of Skype also features nifty integration with Firefox--you can call any phone number you see on a Web site with one click.

With Skype, you can share a story, celebrate a birthday, learn a language, hold a meeting, work with colleagues – just about anything you need to do together every day. You can use Skype on whatever works best for you - on your phone or computer or a TV with Skype on it. It is free to start using Skype - to speak, see and instant message other people on Skype for example. You can even try out group video, with the latest version of Skype.

If you pay a little, you can do more things, in more ways, with more people – like call phones, access WiFi or send texts. You can pay as you go or buy a subscription, whatever works for you. And in the world of business, this means you can bring your entire ecosystem of workers, partners and customers together to get things done. Try Skype out today and start adding your friends, family and colleagues. They won’t be hard to find; hundreds of millions of people are already using Skype to do all sorts of things together.

PMS and MAS , can contribute into a  Organization

Property Management Systems (PMS)

In the highly competitive hospitality industry, it is the intangibles that encourage guests to spend more, provide positive feedback and return to the property in the future. The most powerful of these intangibles is service. No amount of hiring, training or incentives can ensure top-notch service if employees don’t have appropriate systems providing information at their fingertips. In addition, as properties incorporate more services and amenities, the need to integrate these functions becomes increasingly challenging – and important.

Technology has raised the bar, and any department of organization  is at the forefront of this change with guest-centric solutions that help you tap into new revenue streams and serve your guests in creative new ways. PMS now offers three property management systems, each of which is designed to meet the unique needs of a specific segment of the hospitality industry. Our systems automate every aspect of hotel operations at one or multiple properties and enable you to enhance the guest experience and maximize your profits. Agilysys property management systems are used by leading properties throughout the world and are particularly well suited for hotel casinos, full-service resorts, multi-site enterprises, convention centers, condominiums and much more.

All the operations like booking & reservations, check-ins, checkouts etc. are available on screen and can becarried out through a few clicks of mouse. Therefore, the overall efficiency of the hotel staff and the management system is increased by the PMS.

 MULTI-AGENT SYSTEM ( MAS )

Multi-agent systems are applied in the real world to graphical applications such as computer games, Organization, Subject etc. . Agent systems have been used in film alsos. They are also used for coordinated defence systems. Other applications include transportation, logistics, graphics,as well as in many other fields. It is widely being advocated for use in networking and mobile technologies, to achieve automatic and dynamic load balancing, high scalability, and self-healing networks.

Although MAS is provide many potential advantages, they also present many difficult challenges. Here, I present problems inherent in the design and implementation of Multi - Agent System. The list of challenges includes problems first the inconvenient information about the organization it help to the company or an organization .It provides a framework for agent interactions through the definition of roles, behavior expectations, and authority relations.Organizations are general, conceptualized in terms of their structure, that is the pattern of information and control relations that exist among agents and the distribution of problemsolving capabilities among
them. In cooperative problem solving

Market Control

Multi- Agent System can distributed to the agents that compete for tasks or resources through bidding and contractual mechanisms. Agents interact through one variable, price, which is used to value services Agents coordinate through mutual adjustment of prices.

Managing Resources

Another critical issue is effective allocation of limited resources to multiple agents. For example, we have all experienced large time lags in response to internet queries because of network congestion.

Multiagent System Applications

The first MAS applications appeared in the mid-1980s and increasingly cover a variety of domains, ranging from manufacturing to process control, airtraffic control, and information management. I give here a few representative examples. For a more detailed description of agent-based applications One of the earliest MAS applications was distributed vehicle monitoring (DVMT) (Durfee 1996, 1987; Durfee and Lesser 1989), where a set of geographically distributed agents monitor vehicles that pass through their respective areas, attempt to come up with interpretations of what vehicles are passing through the global area, and track vehicle movements. How do I charge my Dell laptop battery? How long does it take for a Dell laptop battery to fully recharge?

as my observation the battery charges in the laptop when the laptop is connected to an AC power source via the AC adapter. The charge time varies depending on the system. If the system supports ExpressChargeT , the battery typically will have greater than 80% charge after about an hour of charging, and fully charge in about 2 hours with the system off.

Can a Dell laptop battery be "overcharged"?

No, the battery is designed to stop using the charger when it reaches full charge.

Will Dell laptops accept non-Dell batteries?

Dell has a rigorous qualification process by which all Dell batteries are validated to ensure proper function, performance and safety. Some non-Dell batteries are available in the market with claims of compatibility with Dell systems. Dell cannot verify these claims, nor the safety of using them in a Dell system. Dell strongly encourages our customers to use only Dell laptop batteries advertised as appropriate for their laptop model. Only Dell laptop batteries come with a 1-year warranty, are engineered for optimal safety and performance for Dell systems, and are supported by Dell technical support for the length of the warranty period.

What does Dell recommend for battery storage for a long period of time?

When storing for more than 4 days these guidelines can better preserve the life of your battery:

  • Do not store batteries for long periods plugged into or attached to any power source. This includes AC adapters and laptop security carts plugged into an outlet.
  • Laptop batteries, including those stored in laptop systems, should maintain an Operational Storage Temperature of 0° to 35°C (32° to 95°F).
  • Batteries may be stored in the laptop or outside of the laptop.
  • Charge batteries before storing. The recommended charging time should not exceed 1 hour. Typically, this should charge the battery to between 80% and 100%. (Some discharge will take place over time. Stored batteries are expected to discharge 10-15% over a four month period, for your information.)

How should I choose the right battery for my new system?

When choosing a battery, the main quality that you need to consider is the amount of energy that can be stored in a battery. This is measured in Watt- Hours (Wh). For longer runtime per charge, choose a battery with a greater Wh rating
